Stephen James

Stephen is a bridge designer and architect with over 30 years’ experience in transport infrastructure and public realm design, with the last 15 years working at the forefront of bridge design. He was Architectural Lead for Ramboll’s UK Bridges Team for a decade, fronting a multi-disciplinary group of architects and engineers, and is responsible for many of their award-winning, iconic bridges in the UK, and Scandinavia. His projects have been recognized with major design and construction industry awards including the RIBA, IStructE, ICE, IBC, The Civic Trust, and Royal Fine Arts Commission. In early 2022, he formed Stephen James Architects, based in East London, a specialist bridge design consultancy focusing on all aspects of active travel.
