The winners of the 2025 Footbridge Awards were revealed during the triennial international footbridge conference that took place in September 2025 in Chur, Switzerland.

Joint Winner: Bracklinn Falls Footbridge, Scotland

An efficient and elegant solution focusing on construction and assembly for an inaccessible site. A robust and bold expression of the traditional ‘half-through beam’ structure, harmoniously integrated with its surroundings.

Pared back aesthetic and lean engineering, utilising materials efficiently. There is an elegant clarity in the expression of each structural component. The overall structure itself is highly refined and sophisticated. Tour de force of engineering and craftmanship combined with eco-awareness.

A remarkable synthesis of site, engineering, and architecture. Exceptionally slender design. The detailing, particularly at the top of the pier is impressive. Truly stunning.

Spectacular: an exhilarating experience. Robust expressive detailing. Tunnel effect adds sense of enclosure and user comfort. High mark for inventiveness and engineering. Wow factor, brave.

Moveable bridges

Synthesis of crisp, angular geometry and simple but expressive detailing. Overcomes the design constraints imposed by the site and the high clearance required efficiently.

This project entails a thoughtful and innovative renovation of a distinguished historic structure. It preserves the fundamental character of the former bridge while revitalising it for future use.
