Architectural engineer An Schoenmaekers is founder and chief architect of the cluster ‘urbanism & design’ at SBE ‘Experts at play’, a multidisciplinary firm based in Belgium, The Netherlands and Spain that designs infrastructure works worldwide. With more than 35 years of experience, SBE emphasises the integration of design, experience, structural logic and detailing. Her personal expertise lies in designing bridges, tunnels and pavilions and creating innovative, sustainable constructions that are both functionally and aesthetically valuable as well as socially relevant. To do so she believes in merging art and skill, and in masterfully materialising ideas based on a variety of expertise.
